Season registration opens October 1

October 1st is quickly approaching and that means one really awesome thing….student-athlete registration will be open!!! The league, our advisory team, and our rad team directors and head coaches have been doing outreach to help get #morekidsonbikes. We’ve been sending emails, planning try-it-out days at schools, hanging posters in our communities, and more. If you know a 5th-12th grader who wants to participate or an adult that wants to coach, please have them go to our find a team page so they can connect with their local team!

The focus for Season XIV is all about FUN! Riding bikes is fun, racing is fun, camping out with your friends is fun! This year promises to be TX NICA’s most fun yet. Get ready for the same great racing you have come to expect with some new fun-focused challenges, adventure zones and more.

Spring NICA season is my favorite time of year and I cannot wait to see you out on the trails.

October is full of League-hosted Try-it-Out rides to help teams recruit for their season! Come on out and help build the stoke across Texas for Season XIV.

If there’s a Try-it-Out ride in your area, be sure to share it on your local social media and and help build the stoke around mountain biking!!

SEASON XIV CATEGORIES AND SCORING

As the league grows, we continue to make adjustments and improvements to provide the best possible experience for our student-athletes.

Season XIV will feature a few key changes that will expand the League’s reach to even more student-athletes. The changes will also provide more options and opportunities for all athletes.

Highlights:

Teams will have the option to include 5th graders.
The race categories have been updated and high-school is moving to all ability based categories.
Category placement criteria have been updated.
The points scale has been adjusted for the new categories and DNFs will now earn points.
Race duration guidelines have been updated to mirror USAC and UCI events
An additional race has been added to the series for each conference

PARTICIPATION FEES
INTRODUCING THE ALL-INCLUSIVE SEASON FEE PASS.

To support and sustain TX NICA’s quality youth mountain bike programming, and to simplify fees for teams and participants, we have announced a greatly simplified participation fee structure for student-athletes. TX NICA has grown to be about so much more than just racing. The new fee structure will provide a predictable funding model to support robust programming that includes quality coaching at the local level, event weekends with races and non-competitive events, Teen Trail Corps stewardship activities, adventure challenges, coaching clinics, team outreach, and much more to come.

The new, one-time, one-price program fee covers all regular season TX NICA activities. This new registration structure brings TX NICA in-line with many other NICA state leagues and reflects the value of the entire NICA experience and community.
