The Power of Unity: Texas Trek 100
At the Texas Interscholastic Mountain Bike League, we believe in the transformative power of cycling, and there’s nothing more inspiring than witnessing over 800 dedicated cyclists come together, united by a cause greater than themselves.
This year’s Trek 100 Texas was a powerful reminder of what collective effort can achieve. With more than $70,000 raised for Cook Children’s Hospital, we celebrated not just the miles ridden, but the significant impact made in the lives of pediatric patients.
Trek 100 Donations to Cook Children’s
are open through October 14, 2024
For the first time, the Trek 100 expanded its reach beyond Wisconsin, bringing its mission to Texas. This partnership with Cook Children’s Hospital, a leading name in pediatric care, resonated deeply with many attendees, many of whom have personal stories of hope tied to the hospital’s services.
The incredible work of Romain Taupier (who you’ve probably seen at our race if you’ve ever stopped by the Trek neutral support tent!) and the Trek team was instrumental in making this event a reality. Their dedication and hard work showcased how passion can lead to meaningful change.
What is the Trek 100?
The Trek 100 is more than a cycling event; it’s a heartfelt journey that unites riders from all walks of life in the fight against childhood cancer. Over its 30-plus years, this event has evolved into a major charity ride, attracting cyclists to support both the MACC Fund and Cook Children’s Hospital in Texas. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a family out for a fun ride, every participant plays a vital role in this mission.
This year’s Texas debut took riders through Fort Worth, Benbrook, and Aledo, offering a true cycling adventure that transcended mere distance.
A Celebration of Community
One of the standout moments of the event was Rest Stop #2, hosted by the Texas Interscholastic Mountain Bike League. As riders rolled in, we greeted them with enthusiasm, snacks, and a Mario Kart-themed extravaganza that brought a unique flair to the day. We even pulled our Drifters out of storage and created a Mario Kart themed course to race around! It was a fantastic way to build community spirit and excitement, reminding everyone that cycling is not just about the ride, but the connections we forge along the way…. Also about winning drifter races.
The rest stops throughout the event transformed into lively celebrations. With themes like Barbie’s Malibu Party and the groovy Far Out, these stops offered more than just a quick refuel. They were vibrant experiences where riders could relax, recharge, and share in the camaraderie of their fellow cyclists.
The Heart of the Event: Patient Ambassadors
Amidst the fun and excitement were the patient ambassadors from Cook Children’s Hospital. These inspiring young individuals didn’t just observe; they actively participated in the day’s events, capturing the hearts of everyone around them. Their smiles and energy were a powerful reminder of why we ride. Each mile pedaled became a tribute to their resilience, reinforcing the day’s purpose and making it deeply personal for all involved.
More Than Just a Ride
In the end, Trek 100 Texas transcended the physical challenge of cycling. It was a heartfelt gathering of riders, volunteers, patient ambassadors, and the incredible team at Cook Children’s Hospital, all united by a mission to improve the lives of children facing cancer.
From the remarkable turnout of 800 cyclists to the significant funds raised, we celebrate this event’s success. Capturing moments of determination, joy, and connection was an honor, and we’re grateful to everyone who contributed to this incredible day.
