All proceeds go towards the GRiT Scholarship at the end of the season which provides new bikes to help get more girls on bikes!

Special thanks to Red Family Photo and Piers Hendrie for their generosity and talent!

Saturday

We want to start off with a shout-out for our North teams for coming all the way down to join us for a race that wasn’t even originally on their calendar. It’s always better when we’re together!

Could we have asked for better weather for this year’s Wrangle in Warda at Bluff Creek Ranch? NO! The answer is definitely NO.

Creating, Leading and Building

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from working with youth—it’s to never underestimate them.

We’re constantly inspired by our student-athletes, not just for how they race, but for how they lead, create, and build.

@jack.trumbly and @danielmorgali launched @ridelens_official, and their sunglasses have quickly become a staple at TX NICA races.

Trajan Koberg debuted his race-day fuel brand, Avalanche Nutrition, at the Wrangle in Warda! Check it out at avalanchenutrition.com

Aria Koberg is helping grow the next generation through Austin Mini Riders—a girls mountain bike day camp. She’s got big dreams of expanding across Texas! Learn more at austinminiriders.com

We’re proud to cheer them on—on and off the course.

GRiT

Our GRiT tent activities this weekend included some bandana painting with fabric markers! It was followed by a toasty lap around the race course.

The Golden Spoon

What’s this!? The GOLDEN SPOON!?! On a quest to find the BEST camp site dessert!

We had a few special guest judges for this round – Nina and Kate from the Alamo City Femmes and Cody our junior photographer.

Here’s the recap:

  • We started with Two10 and their delicious strawberry sheet cake.
  • The Woodlands Green Dragons had Ice cream sandwiches and bomb pops.
  • THawks put out a SPREAD of amazing treats – chocolate caramel cheesecake brownie thing, chocolate peanut butter truffle (I still remember the taste), an Apple Pie crumble, Chocolate sea salt cookie, and….more that I can’t even remember. They basically had their own team competition going! It was highly impressive.
  • Rose City put out a toffee peanut butter cheesecake that was ahhhhh-mazing earning them the GOLDEN SPOON of the North! They also included a dark chocolate reeses cup stuffed inside a chocolate cookie?!?! After visiting their tent, we gained another guest judge, Becca….
  • Heart of Texas was up next with a chocolate chocolate cheese cake AND a sourdough cinnamon roll loaf.
  • College Station got bonus points for cooking their dessert ON SITE as they were making some grilled pineapple with I don’t know what kind of amazing cinnamon butter syrup/glaze.
  • Austin Maroons came in hot once again with student-athlete Amelia preparing home made lemon bars. They were tangy and on point.
  • At this point we waddled our way over to North Texas who had home made cookies this time instead of their store bought crumbs from the Troy race.
  • I heard that the ETX Piney Woods team made a cast iron blackberry cobbler (they’re coming for you, Steiner Ranch!)
  • FINALLY we wrapped up at the Alamo City Femmes tent where they had prepared a homemade ice cream sandwich, a strawberry shortcake with home made strawberry sauce that was Quite refreshing, and to top it off…..the ONLY team who roasted something over their camp fire (for added unofficial, undisclosed amount of bonus points…) they were roasting cinnamon rolls over their camp fire….. taking the GOLDEN SPOON of the South.

Huge thanks to all our teams for playing along and joining in our fun!
