New to Mountain Biking? Curious about Joining a Team?

This free, beginner-friendly event is a great way for 5th–12th grade students and their families to explore what mountain biking with NICA is all about. No experience is necessary!

Hosted by local youth mountain bike teams in the San Antonio area, this “Try It Out” ride gives you a chance to:

  • Discover how to get involved with a team near you
  • Meet friendly coaches and student-athletes
  • Learn basic bike skills in a safe, supportive environment
  • Take part in a relaxed, no-pressure trail ride

Event Schedule

9:00–10:00 a.m. — Beginner Skills
10:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. — Group Trail Ride for All Skill Levels
11:00 a.m.12:00 p.m. — Raffles, games, snacks!

What to Bring

  • A working bike (need one? Let us know—we may have loaners)
  • A helmet
  • Water
  • Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes
  • A positive attitude and a sense of adventure

Who Can Attend?

  • Students in grades 5–12
  • Parents/guardians are welcome (and encouraged!) to attend, learn more, and connect with local coaches

SticStick around after the Try-It-Out Ride to join in the fun of Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day (TKMB), hosted by STORM at McAllister Park. This event is all about making mountain biking accessible and welcoming for families and young riders.

  • Join guided beginner rides led by experienced STORM volunteers
  • Enjoy free bike demos, trail games, and giveaways
  • Learn more about local youth teams and opportunities to get involved
  • Volunteer or race—everyone’s welcome!

Come for the Try-It-Out Ride, stay for TKMB—double the adventure and community.
