Recap – 2026 Guadalupe Groove
March 28–29, 2026 | Kerrville, TX | South Conference
The Texas Interscholastic Cycling League’s South Conference rolled into the Hill Country this past weekend for the Guadalupe Groove, a brand-new venue debut at Kerrville-Schreiner Park. Fast-flowing trails, genuine Hill Country climbing, and a packed weekend of community made for one of the season’s most memorable stops.
Saturday: Pre-Ride, Play, and Community
Saturday is when the energy really arrives. Coaches hit the course first for their dedicated preview window, learning the lines and flagging anything worth radioing back to the crew.
Pre-rides gave riders their first look at Kerrville-Schreiner‘s fast, flowing singletrack and the honest Hill Country climbing woven throughout. But the day was far from all business. Kids grabbed sidewalk chalk and got creative — teams marking up sections of the venue with their names, rally cries, and artwork, claiming a little piece of the course as their own before race morning. It’s a small tradition that somehow always lands big.

The GRiT Ride was, as ever, one of the weekend’s highlights. Women and girls of all backgrounds and skill levels gathered at the iconic orange GRiT tent before heading out together on the course. Whether a seasoned varsity racer or someone on one of her first trail rides, the vibe was the same: inclusive, encouraging, and genuinely fun. The GRiT tent activities in the hours beforehand drew a big crowd too, with participants connecting over shared stoke before even turning a pedal.

Meanwhile, kickball in the Adventure Games area kept the infield buzzing — athletes who’d spent the morning studying trail lines were suddenly diving for grounders and launching the ball across the grass with that same competitive fire they’d bring to Sunday’s start line.

As the sun went down, the pace shifted. Teams gathered around campfires, shared meals, and settled into the easy rhythm of a Saturday night on site. The chalk-marked course was waiting. The bikes were ready. Sunday was coming.

Sunday: Race Day
Racing on the rocky limestone singletrack showcased the depth and diversity that makes Texas NICA special. From varsity front groups pushing hard on the dusty descents to first-timers navigating the course with determination, the energy was electric across every category.
