SUMMARY:Aloha at... Millican
DESCRIPTION:Race Cancelled \n\n\n\n\n\nWe are sad to let you know that we have to cancel this weekend’s race at Millican Reserve. We have done everything within our power to make the race happen this weekend\, but the weather is not in our favor and leaves us no choice. There is a 90% chance of rain accumulation above 1″ with more than 2″ possible beginning mid-day Saturday and continuing through the night. We believe the trail could handle smaller amounts of precipitation\, but 1″ or more would jeopardize the race on Sunday and possibly flood camping fields overnight.   \n\n\n\nWe still have to work through the many logistics of cancelling a race. That means we need more time to sort through how this will impact state championship registrations and what the financial implications will be. We appreciate your patience as we work through these things. We will send a follow up communication early next week. \n\n\n\nThank you for being a part of this league. This is a heartbreaking decision.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Coaches Call 4/21 by Kim Topp\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for the Aloha at… Millican Reserve. \n\n\n\nThis will be a NORTH+SOUTH CONFERENCE race. \n\n\n\nAddress: 19851 Farm to Market Rd 2154\, College Station\, TX 77845 \n\n\n\n\nDirections to Millican Reserve\n\n\n\nLearn more about Millican Reserve\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMillican Reserve\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue Gate Hours\n\n\n\nFriday 2:00-8:00 p.m. Check in at the league registration tent. No swimming\, wading\, or fishing. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Description\n\n\n\nThe course is relatively flat\, but filled with leg eating punchy climbs and a finishing climb that will have every level of rider reaching for easier gears. \n\n\n\nAs a last-minute venue\, we recognize that it is not quite as spectator friendly as we typically strive for. Much of the single track is pretty challenging to view being so far from infield. BUT! If you can get yourself down to the twisty stuff\, there are a lot of really neat spots to spectate. \n\n\n\n\n\nCamping and Venue Map\n\n\n\nStay tuned for an updated venue map for Millican Reserve. Please familiarize yourself with the venue map! The venue map is intended to help teams and families easily organize and plan for the weekend. Please only camp in designated areas. \n\n\n\nThe map is subject to change as sometimes the weather can throw us special surprises. 🙂 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBefore the Race\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister in PitZone\n\n\n\nThe race registration deadline is 11:59 p.m. the Tuesday prior to race. Late registration will be open on the Saturday of the race weekend\, between 9:00 a.m.-2 p.m. A $25 late fee will be assessed and the rider will go to the back of the call-ups regardless of series standings. \n\n\n\nFun lap riders may register ($25) for the fun lap during the late registration window on Saturday. Riders must be practice ready in Pit Zone. \n\n\n\n\nRegister in PitZone\n\n\n\n\nFill out the Venue Waiver \n\n\n\nThe league will be using a digital waiver again this year that race attendees will be required to sign once and will cover all venues throughout the 2024 season. Everyone who enters the venue is required to complete the waiver even those who are not competing. \n\n\n\n\nMillican Reserve Venue Waiver\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n More Info\n \n \n \n \n \n 0% raised of $30\,000 Goal\n\n \n \n Donate\n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGRiT Leadership Applications Open April 9-May 7 \n\n\n\n\nApply Now\n\n\n\nLearn more about GRiT\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRace-weekend Schedule\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday\n\n\n\n2-8:00 p.m.  Venue Gate Hours – Staff and volunteers setting up course. Teams can only attend races offering categories for their conference. Some conference races may host both conferences\, but each conference will have separate podiums for each category. The League will offer five regular season races for each conference and may have one or more predetermined rain dates in case of weather cancellations.  \n\n\n\nPlease refer to Chapter 5 in the TX NICA League Handbook for details scoring\, structure and categories.. \n\n\n\n\nRace Duration Guidelines\nSECTION 5.2 — NICA course length \n\n\n\nThe number of laps raced in each category is determined according to riders’ ability to complete the race within a specific time. Event times will be: \n\n\n\n\nNot to exceed 45 minutes for 5th-8th Grade categories \n\n\n\nNot to exceed 75 minutes for JV2\, JV3\, and JV4 categories\n\n\n\nNot to exceed 90 minutes for JV1 categories\n\n\n\nNot to exceed 105 minutes for Varsity \n\n\n\n\nStudent athletes are expected to be able to safely complete the course within the designated time limit. Athletes may be asked to withdraw and exit the course after cut-off time limits have been reached. Racers who do not make the time limit cut-off will still be scored and ranked.  \n\n\n\nLeague and race officials reserve the right to determine these time limits and alter them at any time. Time limits may be imposed or altered for reasons that include\, but are not limited to\, safety\, heat\, cold\, rain\, and muddy conditions.  \n\n\n\n\nChip Timing\nAll riders will receive a permanent number plate with a chip timing transponder on the backside. Riders use the same plate for the entire race series. Please remove this number plate before transporting bikes to prevent loss.  \n\n\n\nReplacement number plates will be available at the registration tent for $10.00. \n\n\n\n\nCategory Placement \nSECTION 5.12 — League structure and categories \n\n\n\nRace categories will be evaluated and assigned in Pit Zone. Petitions should be submitted to the Texas League Rules Committee using the petition form by Friday at 11:59 PM\, one week before the race weekend. \n\n\n\nNo race day petitions will be accepted \n\n\n\n\nPetition Form\n\n\n\n\n\nWeather and Refund Policy\nWeather Policy\n\n\n\nThe League’s primary considerations in assessing inclement weather plans are the safety of riders\, staff and spectators\, as well as the potential for damage to the venue and trails. Decisions regarding canceling\, postponing or altering race start times\, lap lengths\, number of laps\, etc. will be made jointly by league staff and the land manager. If inclement weather is predicted\, we will make a decision about weather related cancellations by Thursday at 5:00 p.m. For more details about our inclement weather thresholds and cancellations\, see the Weather Policy.  \n\n\n\n\nReview the Weather Policy\n\n\n\n\nRefund Policy\n\n\n\nWe realize that mountain biking is a new sport for many\, and parents may be concerned that their child may not stick with it. The Texas Interscholastic Cycling League strives to put on world-class events and provide all of our student-athletes\, coaches\, and volunteers with the best resources possible at practices throughout the season. With this goal in mind\, we make a financial investment to cover insurance\, training\, and planning activities. Those expenses are continuously incurred. In order to maintain the sustainability of the League\, it is necessary we implement a NO REFUND policy with limited exceptions only for illness\, injury\, or family emergencies.  \n\n\n\nRefunds for injured athletes\n\n\n\nThe Texas League fee may be partially refundable for season-ending illnesses\, injuries\, or family emergencies that prohibit athletes from participating in practices and races. A doctor’s note must be provided for illness or injuey. There is a minimum $100 non-refundable fee to cover NICA fees\, insurance\, and registration. Refunds cannot be made after the second race. League leadership will review refund requests and make a determination.  \n\n\n\n\nNICA Handbook: Rules and Guidelines\nAll participants are required to read\, understand and abide by all league policies\, rules and protocols while attending any league event. \n\n\n\nThe handbook details important rules that should be followed at all races as well as any associated penalties or disciplinary actions that can be assessed against riders or teams for violations of the rules. \n\n\n\n\nSeason XV Student Handbook\n\n\n\n\nLEAGUE RULES COMMITTEE PETITION FORM COMING SOON (Form will be available soon – Do not use this form for category placement petitions) \n\n\n\n\nAssigned Team Radio Channels
